Telouet and the Kasbah oh Glaoua
Within the High Atlas, between Marrakech and Ouarzazate is the village of Telouet. To achieve this village, it is necessary to leave RN9 to borrow the departmental baby D 6802.
In this village a splendid Kasbah is: the kasbah of Glaoua.
Glaoua became established in Telouet in 1858 and starts building in the kasbah from 1860 and used the foundations of a more ancient kasbah.
In the past it was a splendid palace where were given sumptuous receptions. Un fortunately, today there does not remain a lot. Alone two rooms keep their bygone beauty: the room of reception and the harem. Facades fall in ruins through lack of maintenance since its abandonment in 1960.

In the 2 rooms still in state, you can admire all beauty of art Berber :stuccos (mixture of plaster and marble), zelliges (geometric mosaics of loam covered with enamel), marbles and wooden ceilings of sculpted and painted cedar, without speaking about the bars. A legend says that 300 workers worked during 3 years to sculpt ceilings and walls of the kasbah.

There is only one road to achieve the kasbah of Telouet, and it imposes to use one 4X4 or... a donkey! I advise you therefore the 4X4, it is really more comfortable, although..
